Human Rights Quiz


Today, we will ACT on the information we learned in class yesterday.

1.) List all the things that YOU or your family buy, eat, or
throw away that you DON'T really need.

Remember you NEED clothes, basic food, water, and other important things to help you survive.

inherit: to receive something from one person at that person's death

Example: When the old king died, his son inherited the throne and became king.

hereditary: rulers that come from one family


Example: The hereditary rulers of the kingdom of Babylon came from the Assad family.

succession: the order of inheriting the throne, one person after the other.

Example: The succession of kings in Babylon was based on hereditary rule.

monarchy: a ruler, such as a king, that has total power

Example: The country of Saudi Arabia still has a monarchy.

dynasty: a line of hereditary rulers that rule in succession


Example: The rulers of Babylon came from the Hammurabi family dynasty.

religious persecution: people treated poorly because of their religion


Example: The Tibetan people experience religious persecution in China because of their Buddhist beliefs.
