1.)
Read Mummies and Pyramids (pgs.41-45) - 12 minutes

After reading complete the Reading Quiz

2.) A pharaoh's prayer to the gods- 20 minutes

Steps to write in your blog:

1.) Read Mummies and Pyramids (pgs. 46-53)

2.) Choose your favorite god

3.) Choose your favorite pharaoh- ex. Ramses II, Tutankhamun, Hatshepsut, Akhenaton

4.) Pretend you are that pharaoh that makes Egypt monotheistic from polytheistic.

5.) Write a prayer to the god that includes:
1.) What you are going to build that god
2.) Why you love that god (use information from the reading)

3.) Ask for protection from... (Ra, the sun god, might protect Egypt from rain, etc.)


3.) Egypt Timeline Activity- 8 minutes

2.) Polytheism and Monotheism Mini-Lesson - 8 minutes

Each team has three objectives for the day.


If EVERY member of the team completes EACH objective, the whole team receives 1 point.

The team with the highest average on the quiz receives 1 Bonus point.

If everyone finishes each objective with time to spare, then they have the choice of reading two books

If a member fills out this week's reading sheet- 5Ws
that team member earns 1 bonus point for the team.

If all members of the team completes its homework, then the team gets 2 bonus points.

GROUP 1- 17-20 minutes


Read:

Take notes in a Google Doc using 5W strategy. After reading each paragraph, ask your self:

What happened?
Where did it happen?
When did this happen? (For this reading, this answer will usually be the same)
Why did it happen?
How did it happen?

Group 2: Hieroglyphic Practice


In preparation for the creation of your burial chamber, Practice your hieroglyphic writing on the cartouche.

Afterward study the picture and translate the hieroglyphics on the wall as best you can. It will not be a direct translation but try to use your imagination.




Homework:

The embalmer's followed serious steps in the mummification process. Tomorrow, you will create your own mummification directions, but tonight practice following steps by using a recipe.

Homework: Make some type of food (cookies, brownies, eggs, etc.) using a recipe and bring it to school tomorrow.


Write a step by step recipe showing how you created this.
Include: the ingredients, the time, how you mixed it, everything!!!

The more detailed it is, the better it will be.

We will taste each others, of course, ONLY if you bring something in.

Bring SHOEBOXES!!!!!!!!!
